I am currently working freelance with a number of organizations, including The Story Collider, Imagine Science, and Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute.
I led the Public Programs at Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute from 2018-2022, where I led the public engagement strategy and developed and managed a suite of programs designed to engage the public with STEM, from preK-12 students to teachers and older adults.
I directed the Dana Frontiers Program at the Dana Foundation from 2022-2023, which is focused on supporting public engagement with science at all levels, including policy, patient engagement and community engagement.
I have also volunteered for a wide range of science outreach and public engagement efforts, including BraiNY, the New York City chapter of the Society for Neuroscience and Neuwrite.
For K-12 students
I have managed and developed formal and informal education opportunities for students of all ages, including many developed as part of the amazing team at Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute:
Saturday Science, a family day for kids of all ages
Discover Science, a middle school science after-school program
The World Science Festival City of Science, a series of family days across all 5 boroughs of New York
As well as managing and deepening a collaboration with BioBus, a nonprofit that helps K-12 and college students in New York City discover, explore, and pursue science.
For teachers
I have led curriculum development efforts for middle and high school teachers, including alignment with science standards:
BrainSTEM, a series of resources for middle and high school teachers
The Teacher-Scholar Program, a 1-year paid fellowship for middle and high school teachers in New York City
BrainSTEM in Action, a chancellor’s day professional development activity
Community co-creation with the arts
I believe that science should be relevant and responsive to communities. One powerful way to bring together scientists and local communities is through the arts, and I have experience co-creating programming with local arts and community-based organisations through the program Breakout Science, including:
As well as collaborations with local artists through the program Art in the Education Lab.
